Company Description: Bogotá Cómo Vamos is an organization that measures the quality of life in Bogotá through the analysis of technical indicators and citizen perception, with the aim to improve the quality of life for citizens in the city. Intern Role and Responsibilities: Your general role & responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Design of a monitoring strategy for accessibility in public transport and bicycles in Bogotá.
• Analysis of spatial data: TransMilenio GTFS (2019-2022) & Shapefiles of roads and bike paths of the Reference Map of the platform “Spatial Data Infrastructure for the Capital District”- IDECA (2019-2022)

Intern Role and Responsibilities: Your general role & responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Content Writing: Prepare analytical documents such as Policy Briefs, research reports, current affairs bulletins, and opinion pieces on the China-Colombia relationship. This includes synthesizing researched information and writing it with rigor and clarity to communicate conclusions and recommendations.
• Data Analysis: Collect and process relevant quantitative and qualitative data (e.g., trade statistics, surveys, economic indicators), applying appropriate analysis methods. Generate tables, graphs, and visualizations. This task involves ensuring data validity and contributing to the required statistical or descriptive analysis.
• Literature Review: Search and organize information from reliable sources (academic literature, official reports, media outlets, databases). Must organize references and extract key data to support editorial content, ensuring that reports and columns are based on up-to-date evidence.

El Foro Nacional por Colombia

Company Description: The Foro Nacional por Colombia (National Forum for Colombia) is a non-governmental, non-profit civil organization that was founded in 1982 as an initiative of Colombian academics and researchers interested in contributing to the strengthening of democracy in Colombia, building peace, coexistence, diversity, plurality, and active citizenship. Following the ratification of the new Colombian Constitution in 1991, they opened new fields of work such as advising government entities on issues of management and public policies. Later in 2016, following the signing of the Peace Agreement between the Colombian Government and the FARC, they have also orientated work to contributing to the construction of peace and coexistence in Colombia. The organisation works throughout Colombia and their principal activities include, but are not limited to; research, investigation and the publication of studies, advice and support for organizations, peacebuilding, reporting of political incidences and the dissemination of information, among others.

Intern Role and Responsibilities: Your general role & responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• The Intern will support the organization across all departments and projects vary by department, but generally include administrative, analytical, research and special project support. Other activities may include:
• Assisting the team by updating project documents in English and Spanish

Fundación Catalina Muñoz

Company Description: Fundación Catalina Muñoz is an NGO that constructs housing for families in extreme poverty. Their main goal is to contribute to the reduction of the housing deficit in Colombia, and to improve housing. In the past 17 years, they have constructed more than 3,800 homes in 28 Departments across Colombia. They also work with individuals, families, and groups within the
communities and manage social programs to improve Public Spaces. Our partner has recently launched a new Eco-spaces Project, this will emphasize agricultural production within Urban environments. These construction projects are undertaken with a strong social dimension.

Fundación para la Reconciliación

Company Description: We are working with an organization which contributes to the construction of peace in Colombia and the world by promoting a culture of care, forgiveness and reconciliation. They believe that it is not enough to resolve conflicts militarily or with the best official agreements, as peace is fragile. It is to ensure that victims and perpetrators forgive and reconcile in such a way that both advance in the construction of worthy life projects, while recovering three fundamental pillars of existence: the meaning of life, self-assurance and socialization. In 2006, the NGO received an Honorable Mention in the UNESCO Education for Peace Prize for its practical contributions and impact on the creation of a culture of coexistence and peace.

Intern Role and Responsibilities: Your general role & responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Assisting the team by updating project documents in English and Spanish
• Research and some writing on Colombia related issues, including the armed conflict, human rights, post-conflict reconstruction and International Law

REDEPAZ

Company Description: REDEPAZ (National Network of Citizen Initiatives for Peace and Against War) was founded in 1993 as an expression of disagreement with the violent solution of conflicts and as a strategy from organized civil society to deactivate the mechanisms of war and peacefully transform conflicts. REDEPAZ has developed actions and methodologies that seek to promote citizen participation in the construction of comprehensive peace with social justice, local and regional democracy, articulating
processes such as the National Movement of Women Peace Builders, the Movement of Girls and Boys for Peace, the Youth Network for Peace, among others.

Intern Role and Responsibilities: Your general role & responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Researching and logging instances of violence within Colombia, where and when they happened, what happened, who were the victims, the perpetrators, and any other important details and then using that information to create bimonthly reports on the state of violence within the nation.
• Writing a comparison on the current peace process with ELN with the 2016 peace process with the FARC.
• Generating a database of potential future international partners, analyzing the legal frameworks that might limit or prevent these partnerships and drafting introduction letters to send to the organizations and governments.

Sisma Mujer

Company Description: Intern Colombia has partnered with an NGO who was founded in 1998 and has contributed to the consolidation of women’s rights in Colombia, working with women victims of gender violence and discrimination, both domestic and in the armed conflict. Our partner focuses on human rights and law to strengthen the social processes for the individual and collective empowerment of women. Their mission is to build a Colombia without violence against women and girls. They have helped more than 25,000 women, girls and young victims of violence all across Colombia. Among them are women from rural areas, afro-Colombians, indigenous, social activists, refugees, politicians, exiles and migrants and human rights defenders.
During the last 20 years, our partner has managed to impact legislation, public policies, and has provided recommendations to international organizations to help eliminate all types of violence against women and girls.

Intern Role and Responsibilities: Your general role & responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Company Description: The Civil Association for Equality and Justice (ACIJ) is a non-partisan, non-profit organization dedicated to defending the rights of oppressed groups and strengthening democracy in Argentina. Founded in 2002, it aims to contribute to the creation of a deliberative democracy with a strong civic participation, defend the principles of the rule of law and promote compliance with the laws that protect vulnerable groups and the eradication of all discriminatory practices.

Intern Role and Responsibilities: Your general role & responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Bibliographic review by cartographic experiences of informal settlements (popular neighborhoods) in Latin America. This will require the search and systematization of experiences to share with the rest of the team.
• Systematization of requests for public information and updating of the area’s virtual platform on budgetary issues and works carried out in the towns of the City of Buenos Aires. This will require the processing of information provided by the team, and the construction of tables, matrices and graphs for updating the website, as well as the construction of reports and advocacy actions.

Innocence Project Argentina

Company Description: The Innocence Project is an NGO with three main objectives: research, analysis, and litigation for cases of people who have been wrongfully convicted; the promotion of related legislature and public policy; and the training of students on this area of law.

Intern Role and Responsibilities: Your general role & responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Be in charge of the preliminary analysis of the cases under study by IP Argentina
• Analyze the sentences and the resources of each one of the assigned causes and define if it is appropriate to reject the case or, on the contrary, if it should be analyzed in depth, according to the intervention criteria of the Innocence Project Argentina.
• For each case, make a presentation before the IP Argentina team in order to present the main points and the arguments for which she considers that it should continue under study or be rejected.
• In some cases it may be necessary to carry out an activity on the ground before making a decision, such as interviewing the person requesting our intervention. In these cases, the intern will be in charge of completing the proposed task, with the support of the program coordinator.
• On the other hand, if on the date of their internship we have a trial in progress that we must attend, the intern will be the one who will represent IP Argentina in the hearings. The objective of this task is for her to understand how an oral debate is developed in Argentina.
• Develop management tasks and assist the Innocence Project Argentina staff with the purpose of becoming actively involved in the organization and daily operation of an NGO. These tasks involve, among others, assistance in the administration of material resources, assistance in the organization of institutional project activities, etc.

• The intern will lead the preparation of the Dossier: Impacts of Gender Regulations in Argentina. The objective will be to compile and analyze different regulations that have been effective in the promotion, protection and expansion of the rights of Argentine women. The intern must:

  • Compile the regulations in force in Argentina related to the promotion, protection and expansion of the rights of Argentine femininities.
  • Request interviews and articles from different political, academic and professional references on the topics of the dossier.

Mensajeros de la Paz

Company Description: Mensajeros de la Paz is a non-governmental, secular organization, declared of public utility and of national and international scope. It was founded in Spain by Father Ángel García Rodríguez in 1962. In its beginnings, Mensajeros de la Paz created homes to receive children and young people deprived of a family environment or in a situation of abandonment, offering them the closest thing to a family. Over time, the organization has expanded their activities to other unprotected social sectors: women victims of gender violence, people with disabilities, and older adults who lived in solitude, abandonment, and/or indigence.

Africa Unite

Company Description: Africa Unite (AU) is a human rights and youth empowerment organisation that works with citizens, refugees and migrants to prevent conflicts, enhance social cohesion and promote socio-economic development. It was formed in 2001 in response to violence against asylum seekers, refugees and migrants in New Cross Roads, in Nyanga, a sprawling, impoverished, predominantly black township on the outskirts of Cape Town in the Western Cape. Initially part of IDASA (the Institute for Democracy in South Africa) AU became an autonomous, registered organisation in 2004.

Kelly holds a Doctor of Jurisprudence (J.D.) and Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Sociology and Philosophy from the United States and has been working to advance the social, political, and economic rights of persons across Africa since 2006. Kelly is well-versed in legal analysis and research, and has provided technical expertise in developing legal norms and standards, assessing risk management and strategies, and has assisted government actors in developing policies and protocols relating to safety and security, ranging from national to provincial to local government. The Singapore Red Cross is a homegrown humanitarian organisation, dedicated to relieving human suffering, protecting lives and dignity and responding to emergencies since 1949. We serve the vulnerable through our blood donor recruitment programme, home and day activity centre for the disabled, transport aid, food aid, and community first aid, and we build capacity and resilience through our training academy, and volunteer and youth development. Company Description: TOUCH Community Services is a not-for-profit charity organisation in Singapore. We were officially registered in 1992 and have been a member of the National Council of Social Service since 1994. The work of TOUCH started in 1986 as a service for latch-key children in the neighbourhoods of Clementi and Jurong.

• Grant Proposals and Writing Assistance: The intern may support in the research, writing, and editing of current grant materials and applications. Depending on skill and timeline the intern may be able to see the full delivery of a grant proposal including any review meetings and the final application approval. Company Description: Distribute Aid delivers humanitarian aid to communities in need. By coordinating end-to-end shipments, we make it easy for donors to connect with frontline aid organizations, understand the needs on the ground, and get their aid delivered.

Intern Role and Responsibilities: Your general role & responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• The intern will be involved in the drafting of our quarterly report. This involves data gathering and processing, design, graphics, context research, and drafting text. This is done to show Distribute Aid’s humanitarian impact each quarter, and have accountability to our donors in terms of the people we have helped and the budget we used. The intern will work with a manger to find all the data, and input it into a pre-existing report layout using Canva.
• The second project is impact reporting. It is similar to the first project, but in this case the information is specifically aimed at our charity partners, to show them the impact our partnership has had in terms of serving humanity. The intern may be involved in meetings with the partner to share the impact our cooperation has had over the past month or quarter.
• Communications – the intern will help DA with brand management and external communications via social media channels and in reports to our partners. This requires knowledge of DA’s policies, image-sharing protections, and language guide. They will gain experience with common practices and policies regarding communication in the humanitarian sector.
• Social media – The intern will be involved in drafting social media communications on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. On a weekly basis, the admin team will lay out posts they would like highlighted that week with a few bullet points and image ideas. The intern will be asked to draft posts or compile research into topics such as regional context for refugees.
• The intern will keep one of our internal reporting datasets up to date to help keep track of our humanitarian aid shipments. The daily tasks will require the intern to collect data from our shipments and inputting it in the correct format on the data spreadsheets. The intern will gain experience with data management, and software services like google sheets, notion, and gsuite.
