The First Generation Scholarship offers one $2,000 scholarship for first-generation college students participating on a Winter or Spring 2020 UCEAP program!

For Summer/Fall 2019 Only: Applicants will also be considered for the UCLA Kimura Airfare Grant which will cover just over $900 of student’s airfare. The grant is the result of a generous donation from UCLA alumni Stephanie and Mark Kimura.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be a first-generation college student identified as a student whose parent(s) or guardian(s) did not attend a four-year college or receive a college degree.
  • Current UCLA undergraduate student who will attend a UCEAP program for at least one academic term (e.g. summer, quarter, semester, or year abroad).
  • Financial-aid recipient at UCLA.
  • No previous study abroad participation.
  • Good academic standing at UCLA.

These scholarships will be awarded through a competitive application process.

Application Period

Scholarship applications are due by 11:59 pm on October 11th, 2019 for students studying abroad Winter 2020 or Spring 2020.

Application Instructions

  • Complete this online scholarship application. Students will reply to series of short essay prompts.
  • Upload a copy of your most recent Financial Aid Notification letter accessible via MyUCLA.

Applications will be reviewed by the UCLA IEO Scholarship Committee.  Applicants will be notified by October 25th, 2019.
