The Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship is a program of the U.S Department of State that enables students of limited financial means to study or intern abroad. Please visit the Gilman Scholarship Website for complete information on the Gilman and Gilman McCain Scholarships.
Eligibility:
To be eligible to receive the Gilman Scholarship you must be:
- A citizen or national of the United States;
- An undergraduate student in good standing at an accredited institution of higher education in the United States (including both two-year and four-year institutions);
- Recipient of the Federal Pell Grant;
- Participating in a credit-bearing study abroad or internship program;
- Studying abroad in a country or location with an overall Travel Advisory Level 1 or 2, according to the U.S. Department of State’s Travel Advisory System.
Application Cycles and Deadlines:
The Gilman Scholarship has two application cycles each year:
- March Deadline: Application opens mid-January and close early March.
- October Deadline: Application opens mid-August and close early October.
