Boren Scholars study a wide range of foreign languages in world regions critical to U.S. interests. They are committed to public service and have preferential consideration for federal government jobs.

Application Deadline: 2024-25 Cycle

  • Campus Deadline: January 15th, 2024
  • National Deadline: January 31st, 2024 at 5:00 PM EST

Eligibility:

  • U.S. citizen;
  • Planning to study a foreign language in an eligible world region;
  • Matriculated in an undergraduate degree program at an accredited U.S. institution;
  • Non-citizen of destination country.

Maximum Awards:

  • $25,000 / 25-52 weeks*
  • $12,500 / 12-24 weeks
  • $8,000 / 8-11 weeks (undergraduate STEM majors only)
