Boren Scholars study a wide range of foreign languages in world regions critical to U.S. interests. They are committed to public service and have preferential consideration for federal government jobs.

Eligibility:
- U.S. citizen;
- Planning to study a foreign language in an eligible world region;
- Matriculated in an undergraduate degree program at an accredited U.S. institution;
- Non-citizen of destination country.
Maximum Awards:
- $25,000 / 25-52 weeks*
- $12,500 / 12-24 weeks
- $8,000 / 8-11 weeks (undergraduate STEM majors only)
