The UCLA Terasaki Center for Japanese Studies is pleased to announce two study abroad scholarship opportunities: the Terasaki Centenial Scholars and the Moor-Shapiro Fellowship. These scholarships are made possible by generous contributions from the Terasaki Family Foundation and the Moor-Shapiro Families, who want to promote and support study abroad opportunities. Applicants must be a UCLA student attending a UCLA Global Internship, UCLA Travel Study or UCEAP program in Japan. One scholarship of $2,500 will be awarded for Winter/Spring 2025.
NOTE: There is a separate scholarship opportunity for undergraduate students focusing on Japanese and Japanese American studies or involved in Japanese and Japanese American undergraduate student groups at UCLA. If interested, please contact Noel Shimizu at shimizu@international.ucla.edu.

Eligibility Criteria
- Currently enrolled UCLA undergraduate student
- Must be participating in a UCLA or UCEAP study abroad or internship program in Japan
- 3.25 GPA or higher
- Financial aid recipient at UCLA
- Preference will be given to students who have completed at least one Japanese language course or who are part of underrepresented groups in study abroad (first-generation, transfer, STEM, etc).
- Students participating in virtual programs are not eligible.
Please note that this scholarship will be awarded through a competitive application process. Students must comply with program registration/application deadlines to be eligible for this scholarship.

- Apply to the Terasaki Center Study Abroad Scholarship when application opens for your program term.
Applications will be reviewed by the UCLA IEO Scholarship Committee. Award announcements will be made mid-March for summer/fall programs and mid-December for winter/spring programs.
